Pick the side through a selection meeting with other captains and following the selection policy. Where a player has been dropped, the captain dropping the player should give an explanation to the player concerned.

Before every Home game.

Select a Team - Selection to be finalised on a Wednesday with other Captains & at the Bi-weekly selection meeting

Informs every player of time of game, meet of game, and where the game will be played.

Inform allocated umpires (if any) no later than Tuesday night of what time the game is and where.

Make sure there is no colour clash home/away Away team to change

You must supply a match ball. (White is the colour of a match ball)

Make sure all subs are collected in. These go up if they are not paid before 31 October

Ensure there is a suitable pitch side first aid kit at every game home and away


After every home game.

Text or Phone the result in to the league fixtures secretary for Div 1 and above. All other teams to email by the Sunday night.
Fill in match card get both umpires signatures and captains signatures .
Post match card. Must arrive no later than the Wednesday following the game. Fines are imposed for missing / late cards.
Collect match fees in

Pass on away start times to relevant team captains.

Chase away teams for start times if these have not been received by the Monday preceding the game & inform the league fixtures secretary if they have not been received by the Wednesday preceding the game.

Receive and distribute correspondence coming in. Answer / respond to that which does not relate to other committee members

Ensure constitution is kept up to date and adhered to. Note that this is only changed at an AGM or EGM

Maintain member database. This means getting captains to notify contact details of all new players. Members need to be reminded to provide changed details.

Notify any information for Web publication to Webmaster

Prepare and issue newsletters – on an infrequent basis. Usually 3 per year. Just before the seasons start, December and March. Work with social secretary to complete this.

Prepare for and notify members of AGM.

Take and distribute minutes of all meetings & send electronic copy to webmaster

Overall Objective of the JDO is to encourage those aged under 18 to take up playing hockey and to develop their skills and enthusiasm for the game in a safe environment.

 

To achieve that objective the JDO needs to:-

Organise games for the younger players especially against schools and other clubs and use these games for junior recruitment!!!

Arrange regular coaching sessions – with a set programme of progression to ensure the juniors are getting good developmental coaching.

The programme is to be agreed at a meeting of relevant people and coaches.

Ensure that coaching is carried out by persons who are suitably qualified and/or experienced
 

Arrange for all games and coaching sessions to be attended by at least two adult members of the club or one adult member and a parent

Ensure Club’s Child Protection Policy is adhered to

Arrange for the club’s junior teams to enter appropriate age group tournaments

Ensure that appropriate protective equipment is worn by all players

Maintain records of those attending coaching sessions and games to aid in adult team selection.

Keep records of any medical condition which children attending coaching or games may suffer from

Obtain signed forms of consent to administration of medical treatment from parents if they are absent

Work with the club secretary to advertise the club and its coaching sessions in local schools

Ensure that youngsters capable of playing adult hockey are put forward for selection for the Club’s senior teams

To make youngsters and their parents aware of county hockey coaching and development squads

To monitor the progress of the youngsters and encourage them
